Phelisha Midy embodies one of the philosophies we hold most dear at IT’S TIME: getting an early start toward the path to greatness. Phelisha joined IT’S TIME as an intern while a freshman in college, and now serves as our Program Director. In this position she manages the daily logistics of our programming and events. She also serves as a constant source of new ideas for activities that keep our students excited and engaged. Originally from Long Island, New York, Phelisha came to Washington, DC to study at Howard University, where she is currently a Junior Economics major and active member of the Haitian Student Association.

In March 2011, Phelisha traveled to Haiti to provide aid to the many citizens who are still affected by the devastating January 2010 earthquake. While there, she worked with a local orphanage and taught the students mathematics and English. She also spoke with representatives at the United States Embassy in Port Au Prince to provide insight on ways to improve America’s future restoration efforts. Though not yet a college graduate, she has been frequently recognized for her efforts in and out of the classroom. Phelisha is featured in the July 2011 edition of Ebony Magazine and has been profiled by PBS News, the Washington Post and WPFW 89 FM Public Radio. We are quite fortunate to have Phelisha serve as an inspiration and role model to our students.
